February 2013                               Haiti IBESR open, but not accepting dossiers yet

April-May 2013                              told IBESR will likely open and accept 2012 dossiers

May 7, 2013                                  find out that the children's aunt took them to live with her

May 10, 2013                                 unofficial referral of new kids: 2 year old boy and baby girl

May 15-19                                     Mark and Katie flew to Haiti for parent weekend & meet new kids

May 21, 2013                                dossier is accepted in Haiti's IBESR! We got a case number!

end of summer, early fall 2013      found out that both our creche AND the American director of
the agency we were using were corrupt

fall 2013-January 2014                  praying about what to do (without an adoption decree, we have no
legal say in the children's welfare, but they desperately needed to be
                                                       moved)

December 2013                              little boy turns 3

January 7, 2014                             receive a call connecting us to a Private Investigator in Haiti. He
was helping another family remove their child from the creche when
our birth mother* overheard and joined them. She said she wanted
the children to be adopted and asked where they could go for that to
                                                      happen. HUGE MIRACLE!

January 14, 2014                          PI picked up mother* and children and took them to the new creche

January 15, 2014                          children under new care and medical attention (baby girl severely
malnourished and fighting a bad infection; little boy not much better)

January 15, 2014                         told that our adoption should and could happen, but would have to
start from scratch. The mother* was not actually their mother, but
aunt. Their mother had passed away.
Family will have to appear in court and set the records straight, then
new and truthful paperwork would be done (once the children's
dossier is accurate, adoption can continue)

January 2014                                baby girl turns 1
